Our services in detail

Initial registration with the Environment Agency Austria

On request, we carry out the initial registration for our customers at the online portal of the Environment Agency Austria. This registration is obligatory for all parties engaged in the initial placement of WEEE and batteries on the market.

Regular reporting to the Environment Agency Austria on equipment placed on the market and subjected to recovery processes.

As a producer/importer, you are obligated to report to the Environment Agency Austria once a year on the volume of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE) and batteries sold in kilograms per collection and treatment category. You must also record the data on collected, recycled or recovered WEEE and batteries and report it to the Environment Agency Austria. We take care of this reporting for you!

Securing of financing

Producers/importers who are not participating in a collection system for new WEEE but opt instead to build up their own infrastructure must secure financing for collection and disposal or recovery for all of their equipment placed on the market (e.g., in the form of an insurance policy).

For UFH customers, participation in the system replaces the obligation to secure financing.

Set-up and operation of the required 100 collection sites

UFH has set up a joint collection site for its customers in each of the approximately 100 districts.

As a producer/importer who is not participating in a collection system for new WEEE, you would be obligated to set up your own collection sites in each of the approximately 100 districts. In addition, you would have to enter into WEEE sorting agreements with all other registered collection sites.

Collection of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and waste batteries

UFH has a fully developed and efficient logistics system that guarantees regular collection at the collection sites.

As a producer/importer who is not participating in a collection and recovery system, you would have to accept and perform collection jobs from the coordination body. That means you would have to collect the WEEE from your own collection site and from those of other registered collection sites and dispose of it at your own expense.

In addition we also offer collection of WEEE directly from merchants as a fee-based UFH service (Collection&Recovery / Collection Directly from Merchant Service).

Handling, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of waste

For handling, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE and batteries, UFH can turn to specialists with whom it has successfully cooperated for many years.

As a producer/importer who is not participating in a collection and recovery system, you must fulfil the actual goal of the Austrian WEEE Ordinance, namely the handling, recovery and environmentally sound disposal of WEEE. As you generally cannot perform these tasks yourself, you would have to enter into agreements with service providers.

Information for consumers

As part of its PR activities, UFH assumes responsibility for providing information to consumers.

Every producer/importer is obligated to explain to consumers the spirit and purpose of separate collection and the possibilities for the return and collection of waste equipment.
